Amy Dehdari

Head Girls Cross Country

Head Girls Track & Field

Coach Dehdari is in her 17th year of public education and in her 7th year of leading the Plano Girls Cross Country and Track programs.  Two of her most proud moments at Plano Senior came in 2017 when Cross Country won the 9-6A District Championships and in 2018 when the Track team won the 9-6A District Championships by 3 points!  2018 was also the year Plano Senior was without a track and bused to Kimbrough daily for practice.

Coach Dehdari attended Marcus High School and did track all four years and ran cross country one year. She then went to Texas A&M and threw the Javelin for three years. She graduated in 2004 from A&M with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. Her first job out of college was at Wester MS in Mansfield, TX, where she coached volleyball, cross country, basketball and track and field for four years (2004-2008). She then moved to McKinney North HS for four years (2008-2012) and coached basketball for two years, volleyball for two years and track for four years. As an assistant, she was able to take a triple jumper and their mile relay to state in 2011. Coach Dehdari taught Algebra at McKinney North and was the Algebra team leader for three years. In 2012 she became the Head Volleyball and Head Track and Field coach and at Kilgore HS. One of her track and field athlete's went to state in 2013 and placed third in both the 400m and the triple jump. In 2014, She returned to state with that same athlete, as well as a freshman triple jumper, where she earned the state championship in the long jump and place third again in the triple jump.

Some personal information about Coach Dehdari:
"My family has been in Flower Mound since 1993 and my parents and sister (and her family) still live in Flower Mound. I have a two year old nephew in Flower Mound and a three year old niece in Ohio. In my spare time, I try to stay very active. I am a runner and a golfer and love working out! My favorite distance is the half-marathon and have ran more than twenty at that distance. I have also run five full marathons. I also enjoy scrapbooking, wood-working and spending as much time with my family as possible."

Volunteering to help coach the Wildcats track & field team from 2005-07 under coach Tim Eshleman during my first years with the program, I also took on the role of a strength and conditioning coach with the 2005 football team under coach Brence.

During that tenure, “I found out I had more excitement coaching and watching those young high school athletes achieve success than my own personal athletic experience & achievements".

At the time, I primarily worked with sprinters and relays in track & field. The areas I specialized in during my running days. As an athlete, I ran the 100-meter dash, 200 dash, 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 relays throughout high school before embarking on a college career in the sport split between Northwestern State and Texas A&M Commerce. My career was cut short due to a severely ruptured Achilles Tendon 1996.

Thanks to Coach Eshleman & Coach Brence for giving me an opportunity to coach, I have earned 6 years as an assistant coach along with 4 years as a head coach. These coaches believed in me enough to offer me a head coaching position after Coach Eshleman retired in 2017.

Going into my 5th year as the Wildcats head coach, I continue to strive to create the best possible Cross Country and Track & Field program. A program that teaches young athletes to become successful at whatever they choose to be in life.
